- 1 cup granulated sugar (200 g)
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder (30 g)
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour (60 g)
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (85 g)
Cookie Layer
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened (113 g)
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed (110 g)
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar (50 g)
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour (150 g)
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (170 g)
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8×8-inch (20×20 cm) baking pan with parchment paper.
- In one bowl, whisk together the melted butter, sugar, eggs, and vanilla. Stir in the cocoa powder, flour, salt, and chocolate chips until just combined.
- In a second bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar.
- Mix in the egg and vanilla, then stir in the flour, baking soda, salt, and chocolate chips until a thick cookie dough forms.
- Spread the brownie batter evenly into the prepared baking pan.
- Scoop large portions of the cookie dough over the brownie batter and gently spread them so most of the brownie layer is covered.
- Sprinkle a generous handful of additional chocolate chips evenly over the top.
- Bake for 35–40 minutes, until the cookie layer is golden brown and the center is just set.
- Let cool for about 20 minutes, then cut into thick squares and serve warm.
