Orange Chicken
Crispy chicken thighs tossed in a glossy homemade orange sauce with citrus, ginger, garlic, and soy.

Ingredients
- 1 1/2 lb boneless skinless chicken thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces (680 g)
- 1/2 cup cornstarch (60 g)
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour (30 g)
- 1/2 tsp salt (3 g)
- 1/2 tsp black pepper (3 g)
- Oil for frying
Orange Sauce
- 1/2 cup orange juice (120 mL)
- 1 tbsp orange zest
- 1/4 cup soy sauce (60 mL)
- 1/4 cup brown sugar (50 g)
- 2 tbsp rice vinegar (30 mL)
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp grated ginger
- 1 tbsp cornstarch (8 g)
- 2 tbsp water (30 mL)
Optional
- 2 green onions, sliced
- Additional orange zest
Directions
- Coat the chicken with salt, pepper, flour, and cornstarch.
- Fry the chicken until golden brown and crispy. Remove and set aside.
- In a bowl, combine orange juice, soy sauce, brown sugar, rice vinegar, garlic, and ginger.
- Pour the sauce into a skillet and bring to a simmer.
- Mix cornstarch and water, then stir into the sauce until thickened.
- Add the fried chicken and toss until fully coated in the glossy orange sauce.
- Garnish with green onions and orange zest.
- Serve immediately over rice.
