Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour (250 g)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar (50 g)
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 3/4 cup whole milk (180 mL)
  • 2 Tbsp unsalted butter, melted (28 g)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Vegetable oil, for frying

Cinnamon Sugar Coating

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar (100 g)
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon

Vanilla Glaze

  • 1 cup powdered sugar (120 g)
  • 2 Tbsp milk (30 mL)
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Directions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, melted butter, egg, and vanilla extract.
  3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until a soft dough forms.
  4. Heat about 2 inches (5 cm) of vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Scoop or roll the dough into 1-inch (2.5 cm) balls.
  5. Fry the donut holes in batches for 2–3 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden brown on all sides. Drain on paper towels.
  6. While still warm, roll the donut holes in the cinnamon sugar mixture until evenly coated.
  7. Whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla to make the glaze, then drizzle it over the warm donut holes.
  8. Serve immediately while warm.
