Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened (113 g)
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar (100 g)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar (50 g)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (5 mL)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour (120 g)
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder (45 g)
  • 1 tsp baking soda (5 g)
  • 1/2 tsp salt (3 g)
  • 1 1/4 cups semi-sweet chocolate chunks (210 g)

Directions

  1. In a bowl, cream together butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar.
  2. Add the egg and vanilla extract and mix until smooth.
  3. Add flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Mix until a thick chocolate dough forms.
  4. Fold in the chocolate chunks.
  5. Scoop the dough into large balls and place them on a lined baking sheet.
  6. Press a few extra chocolate chunks into the tops of the dough balls.
  7. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 10–12 minutes.
  8. Allow to cool slightly, then pull one cookie apart while warm and serve.
